Respect

I have had the third report in a week of a friend or relative abolishing their so-called friend or family member for voting the way they had in this election. Have we forgotten what democracy is about? That freedom of choice is what we have been trying to support for decades?

I cannot help but feel that social media and poor information has made people inflammatory on top of the fact that they feel restricted due to the pandemic. Is being so outraged over an election worth destroying relationships?

Perhaps we need to go back and look at what our real values are and not let our egos run the show. The elected people will only be around for a short amount of time, but your friend or relative is often a lifetime companion and confidant. There are far more important things to get excited about than the way people vote, particularly as it is something sacred to each individual.

Time to contemplate the value systems in relationships.
