Refillable Bottle Cleaning Systems

For laundry soap and rinse a few years ago I began using what started out being called My Green Fills and is now named Truly Free. I wanted a solution that would not contribute to the landfills.

When they first sent out their refillable bottles, they were glass with a nice silicon wrap on the lower half. They also sent out small sample bottles with cleaning products for things such as windows, everyday cleaning, tub and tile cleaner, produce and odor and stain remover. With the first order they sent the glass bottle, and also the concentrate filler in a plastic pouch. The balance of the bottle was filled with warm water and you were good to go. With a reorder you received pouches of the filler that was then used in the existing bottle.

But as the company grew, they dropped the glass bottles with the silicon sleeve and began using cheaper plastic bottles. When I asked the company why they said the glass bottles were too expensive for some people and heavier to ship. Disappointed, I carried on and jumped on every sale for the refills and new products.

Then the Grove came along with their glass bottles and glass bottle refills. But their scents are strong and I prefer unscented laundry soap and rinse as I prefer not to pollute the air with unnecessary scents. They use Mrs. Meyers scented products and they just drive me out of the room. I do like their bottles. Grove also sells a lot of other companies “natural products.” It would be nice if they came up with their own unscented product.

Grove also uses heavy shaming advertisements such as showing a natural water alcove filled with floating plastic bottles.  Not my idea of positive and up lifting advertising.

Another company, Rosey Reusable Systems, uses a glass bottle, but the silicon is only on the bottom of their bottles, which are tall and easy to tip over and spill. And they have only two unscented products right now. Their refillable concentrates come in a plastic pouch with a screw off lid. The refillable bottles are not clearly marked, only differentiated by color. I sent them back.

I hope that someone creates a beneficial system that has glass bottles with the silicon sleeves that last forever and not end up in a landfill, and with refill packets that have a twist off cap and don’t allow spillage or more plastic in the trash. And non-scented.

Stand by for further developments.
