As we look forward to the fall and winter holiday season we often include foods that are a part of our holiday festivities, not necessarily part of our normal choices. If your holiday happens to include foods high in sugar, unhealthy fats or processed foods and if you enjoy them in greater quantities or more regularly than usual, it can have a negative to devastating effect on your heath and immunity. For ourselves we choose to keep the quantity in check and / or make some alternative healthy choices. The healthy choices are those we can make at any time of year – the below is simply a reminder of some options:
Sugary treats spike and then crash our glucose levels. Any time we eat sugar it spikes insulin and blood sugar and too much of that can cause insulin resistance. It can also create glucose intolerance and food sensitivity. There is a lot out there about sugar consumption. Chiropractor Dr. Eric Berg has a lot to say about it.

Your favorite treat recipes can be made with alternative flour (almond, oat oats — if organic sprouted and you grind your own flour – and coconut) and sugar such as monk fruit, maple syrup, coconut sugar or stevia. Search Youtube and elsewhere for healthier variations on your favorite tastes. One source is this Keto cook, in a video sharing an easy almond flour pie crust:

For icing, instead of sugar icing, paint treats with food coloring. Yes, there is a food coloring that is not toxic —

Add additional spices when you can for flavor and health.
When pondering sugar options, dried fruit such as figs, dates and apricots are a far healthier choice than refined sugar treats.
For grocery shopping, stick to the outside isles to find the fresh and refrigerated foods. They are more life stimulating and help us build a delightful food experience. For the holidays, stocking up on fresh seasonal fruit might include a variety of organic apples and oranges.
For those who like chips, look for cassava chips made with sea salt rather than chemical salt. Siete makes grain free cassava chips cooked in avocado oil. Step away from corn chips as most of the corn they are made from is indigestible. See if the lovers of conventional potato chips will go for low sodium jerky instead?
You may know that we choose what is best for the individual, that no one size fits all. And so we share this link to Geoffrey Hoppe channeling Adamus St. Germain that suggests we consume what gives us joy:
