The summer solstice 2024 is Thursday, June 20. It is the first time since 1985 that the full moon coincides with the day of longest light, when the sun is at its highest point in the sky day. It is also the first full moon of the summer on the first day of summer.
This full moon is called the strawberry moon, due to it occurring during the short strawberry season, or the mead moon. The moon will appear red or orange like due to its position and reflecting the light of the sun through the earth’s atmosphere.
The summer solstice conjoined with the full moon represents the triumph of the light over darkness and brings growth, fertility and spiritual awakening. It includes finding balance in one’s life.
