Notes on Life

I was too busy being grateful, enjoying friends and family to read email on Thanksgiving.

And so now I am choosing to post the below excerpt from A Midwestern Doctor’s November 27, 2025 email blast. A sometimes wonderful reminder:

As we all sit down for a Thanksgiving dinner with our friends and family, we are encouraged to focus upon what we are truly grateful for and what’s really important in life. To this end, I frequently think of this quote (which I have seen more variations of than I can count):

Man sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die,
and then dies having never really lived.
