Face Forward Skin Care

Skin, our biggest organ, soaks up the good and the not good, often quickly sending ingredients into our bloodstream. Why, with awareness, would we choose skin care products that pack toxins?

Price does not equal healthiest or most effective. Pricey products often do not include enough of the ingredients that are useful. And to pack enough shelf life, they often include items that you would never knowingly put on your skin – chemicals, preservatives, alcohols, and petroleum products.

Bottom line is we believe the best choices for hydrating and feeding the skin are natural, organic products. And, for us, primarily oils, serums and mists.

Ginger

I use Mychelle and BeautyCounter. They are the cleanest lines that agree with my skin. All my skin.

I was one of the first people I knew who used a serum, which helps feed my skin and clears blocked pores and helps the skin hydrate itself.  Both lines have serums.

After using the Argan Oil from Mychelle, I then use their fruit enzyme hydrating mist to help bring more moisture to my skin and drive away dryness. In addition, particularly when I’m on the phone for a long time, I use a whipped Aloe Vera butter which feeds and tightens the skin around my eyes.

Both companies have different lines to help your special skin, including Recovery Sleeping Cream to use before bed and after washing the day off your face with a cleanser. The Pumpkin Hydrating cleanser is great.

Rosehip does not work for me as it causes me a rash due to high vitamin C that my skin doesn’t like.

I do use Pure Coconut Oil Soap from Nutribiotic on the rest of my body while in the shower. It helps hydrate some of the neglected parts of my body. I then use BeautyCounter’s Adaptive Body Moisturizer. It gives my legs, bum and arms a nice soft glow and is not sticky. Even my dog likes it.

Caryn

For me, I long ago noticed that over the counter products did not work – no matter what I tried, the product simply sat on my skin, did not nourish or hydrate. I learned that my skin likes oils and serums.

I have combination skin. I use coconut oil always (face and body) and mix in rosehip oil, apricot oil, macadamia nut oil and argan oil as inspired. I do not use a separate eye moisturizer.

I more recently learned that the clean oatmeal soap I was using on my face was drying versus hydrating. I wash my face in the late afternoon or evening only and with a MyChelle product.

Note for those who think their skin is too oily for oils and serums

Oily skin is the result of dry skin. The sebaceous glands over-produce sebum due to the dryness. When you feed the skin what it needs it tends to fall into greater balance or balance.
